Seeing Red…again!

AS IN ‘RED GERANIUMS’

I had a free day yesterday and so I finally had a chance to bring up all my flowers and get them out – not that I have an array of different ones, you all know by now I’m a softy when it comes to Geraniums … it’s one of my favorite flowers to decorate with next to Lavender – which I totally forgot to bring up.

Yesterday it reached 89 degrees and no air con. and the humidity was 55% – not bad but if you knew me I can’t stand heat or
temps over 70/72 and no humidity … but that said, I put on as little as I could get away with for clothes and went about
putting out the flowers.

Don’t have much as far as information to add today so hope you enjoy the pictures.

Here’s the stash before I put them around!
I had 11 pots and 6 clusters to work with
Wishing I had more white after using the two I had

 Geraniums 3

Now here’s where they all ended up

I think this turned out great….it’s my Americana display – I bought an old box last Winter and love the printing on it … and it’s Blue so it worked great for this in our screen room

And last - in a basket above our bed

Now just a couple pictures of some flowers I set outside

I use the large Redwing crock for my displays all year long.
I keep the birch twigs in there for fullness and just add my flowers
for the seasons and at Christmas we put a lit tree in itBack porch

Courtyard area – finally got my flowers planted and it stormed that night and knocked off most of the little pinks!

This actually looks better than it is showing – picture doesn’t
show how very nice it really looks for some reason
I bought this tall bucket at a shop up north, it’s about 36 inches tall

I’ve been trying to visit all of you as I can this week – have to be gone all of tomorrow to my aunts to help there so won’t
have access to a computer but will be back for the weekend and will check in on more blogs – I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!

I think my girls liked their winnings from my giveaway! Hope so!

  7. Poor, Karen, you'd never make it down here in the South. 90 degrees today and the dewpoint is almost always over 60 (my personal comfort level). By August we sweat getting out of the shower. Good thing EVERYTHING is air-conditioned down here. Just LOVE the geraniums.

  11. Karen,
Your geranium displays are beautiful! I had better get back to Joann's for more, they really summerfy a room. After looking at the one on our kitchen table for about a week, my husband asked if it was real or artificial! He's got a very green thumb, so to fool him is quite a trick.

  17. Hi Karen,

I LOVE all of your flowers and where you have them displayed. It looks so summer like at your house. We have been getting some nights with frost so I have yet to go and pick up my annuals.

I am finishing up a very large project in the house at the moment and once I am done, I will be heading outside and finishing up my gardens. Then it will be time to sit back and ENJOY!

I hope the temperature has lowered for you to enjoy. It sure has here...

  22. Well Karen, you just prompted me to get my butt going and get my geraniums out of storage! I've been busy with other things and once I saw these wonderful pictures it made me think that I have to get moving! I don't have near the amount that you do, but if it ever warms up around here then I'll head to the greenhouses and purchase some for my yard! Hoping we can plant our garden over the long weekend but it's been so cold and we've been know to get snow on this holiday! You can send some heat my way :)
Blessings to you and wishing you a safe holiday weekend!

  24. Hi Karen -- I'm back to say that the Terro baits are non toxic to pets -- although we do place them where it is unlikely that our dog will get them. In the dining room, we actually tucked them under the rug, and they worked great -- the ants found them, the dog did not.

terro.com gives info on using around pets.
    Thanks for visiting!

Sounds like it has been a hot one for you. I know it has been hot here and there is nothing better then having your A/C. Hope things cool down for you soon!!

I absolutely love the geraniums. They look great and they add so much to any area. Question for you....where did you get that long Americana flag type runner that you have hanging on the siding of your home? I love it!!

Well, thank you for stopping by my blog today. Great seeing you : ) Stay cool my friend.

  28. Oh, you have SUCH a lovely home! And I love the geraniums, such a pretty vibrant flower. I may have to steal your idea of putting them in the wooden bowl...I have similar and it needs a little summer something.

  30. The last time you mentioned the deal you got on the geraniums, I ran right over to Joann's and got some. I put the one in the pot on the little black drop leaf coffee table I found at a garage sale for $8.00. I still haven't decided what to do with the un-potted ones. You've given me some ideas with your placements.

Have a nice day! Stay Cool!

  32. Karen, I love it all! Your place always looks picture perfect! I am not sure how to do that, my house gets so filthy from the gravel driveway (Inside and out)...my patio gets weeds and ant hills, and junk on it continually. I finally invested in a leaf blower, and love it, but still, have days of it looking filthy.

Love looking at your photos. You do a great job!

  33. I always love looking at your displays. I have yet to get to Joann's. I would love a display of geraniums on my table here.

I love the look of your geraniums in all of their different locations throughout your home..It's been extremely hot and humid here in Western Pa.for the month of May..I am complaining about the heat here and my daughter lives outside of Knoxville and it's been in the mid 90's..So it could be worse..LOL..Have a great Memorial Day weekend..

  40. Hi Karen,
I enjoyed seeing all your geraniums everywhere!! My grandmum always had red geraniums growing in her breezeway so I'm very partial to them as well. I've never seen faux ones that look so good! Where can I find me some??
All your flowers and plantings are beautiful as well. You certainly have the Midas touch when it comes to decorating. Take care.

I, too, love geraniums ~ especially the red ones, but this year I still haven't bought a one. I am so far behind. I did get some yard work done this weekend but not nearly enough...lol! I am thankful we are getting some much needed rain this evening. I had to start watering yesterday ~ and I do HATE watering. It's a waste of time and money, but such a necessity.
    Pug hugs :)

  45. Karen,

Love any pics of your home! Your geraniums make such a statement everywhere you used them! I've always loved the trencher on your table with the geraniums...it just simply says primitive in the classiest way, I think! Love it all!

    Have a great week! :)

  47. Your home is lovely! WOW! you certaintly have a knack for all the decorating you do. I just love the flowers!!!! I am in awe of the flowers above your bed. What an idea! Never would of thought of that. Its romantic! Such beautiful arrangements throughout!!!

  48. Simply beautiful Karen! I just love how the red "pops" in all your displays. I always buy flowers for the outside, not the inside. I'll have to remember that next year.

Your courtyard is gorgeous! It is so pretty, so inviting. I would love to sit and soak it all in. In my opinion, that's what makes a house a home. I enjoyed your tour.
