Wonderful week!

Happy Tuesday everyone…it’s a beautiful windy day here in Wisconsin and perfect for drying my Down comforter – so on the line it will go after it’s done washing  (a fluff in the dryer first).
I have felt so good this past week that I’ve been a cleaning maniac – which may bite me in the end but I’m making hay while the sun shines so to speak.

This past weekend I washed ALL my windows…we have 18 windows plus the bow window and 3 doors…I always use just plain ole Vinegar in hot water and use paper towels to dry with…never use cloth as there is always a residue from laundry soap and softener…my windows shine like there isn’t even glass in them – until the first rain – then they will be spotted all over again!

Remember the Army blanket from awhile back – well I finally made a Penny Rug from it.  A customer ordered a Traditional Penny Rug and I gave her the option of fabrics…she jumped at the idea of the Army blanket for a backing and I just love it!!!   I will be offering them now with that choice along with the Osnaburg and FHWeavers cloth.
Here’s the one for my customer.

The next few weeks are going to be busy around here…our granddaughter’s baby shower is coming up – we have a graduation – and our step dad turns 90 on the 2nd so us and my brother/sil are taking him out to dinner hopefully next weekend.  It’s so hard to coordinate times with people anymore with everyone having such busy schedules.
Jamie has been keeping track of Alex’s pregnancy – how cute!  And YES, going to be Great-Grandparents…Yikes…
Oh…it’s a boy and his name is ZAYNE MARTINSEN-MELAHN
Alex

Our little Aidan is sick right now with a bad sore throat…throat culture was negative for strep.
Dr. said it’s just a plain ole sore throat and he threw up for the first time ever…he got scared and asked if he was going to die…poor little thing – he hasn’t been sick except with a cold before.
Little Miranda is crawling and pulling herself up to things and will walk very soon.
Her uncle and aunt sent her a little Minnie Mouse outfit for Christmas…adorable!

Looks like he hurts – poor baby!

I’m selling my large hutch – want to put it on Craig’s list but haven’t figured out how yet.
I need something that has storage to replace it with.
It was built by a local furniture maker from my design – the construction is fantastic and solid.
Made from local barn wood
We do not deliver though!
Anyone interested can e-mail me.

  8. Your posts are always so chock-full of fun stuff that I'm usually at a loss as to where to begin commenting...but, yikes....you stopped me dead in my tracks with that great grandmother stuff. I read that like three times "our grand-daughter's baby shower" thinking...no....you misspoke....before reading the next sentence and realizing it was true. Holy smokes!!! NO WAY!!! You look too young to be even a grandmother I swear...but, yeah - I know, we've had this discussion before. All I can say is you are blessed...in more ways than one.... ;-) Love the newest penny rug....but then again, there aren't many of your creations that I don't love. Glad to see you made it to Joni's - I haven't been there for a while it seems....and haven't hooked in even longer. (Yeah, the plan was to hook when I last went to Joni's, but I always get distracted with that little thing called shopping....) Nice and warm here too today, altho that wind has most everything blown apart....Guess it's back to the 30's and 40's for the rest of the week. Boo Hoo..... Glad you're feeling so well....(well enough to come do MY windows???) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  15. Blessings-blessings-blessings! You have been showered with blessings. I am so happy to hear you are feeling so spunky! I just use my squeegie thing on the outside windows. The rain and dust always does a number on them! Grands are a true delight, aren't they? Just love them, spoil them and let them go home. I truly love that penny. You do such great stitching, so many more than most. Looks fantastic. Army blanket is my favorite backing, too. I always look for army blankets when I am thrifting!
Sending prayers for continued good health.

  18. Glad you're feeling better! We are cleaning our windows and porch this weekend...expecting 80s temps!! Thanks for the tip...I'm going to try vinegar on mine too. Wish I lived closer to Wisconsin...I'd be at your door buying that hutch..unfortunately shipping it to NY is out of the question. BTW, love the penny rugs. I bought my first ever penny rug pattern...haven't started it yet...but when I do...I'll be emailing you for HELP!! LOL. Take care.

  19. good morning Karen! My penny rug is absolutely gorgeous! That picture does not do it justice. I love it and it has a place right by the front door with a basket of beautiful geraniums next to it. I can't thank you enough...the army blanket was perfect! Hugs for a great weekend!

  21. I love the penny rug! The Army blanket is perfect!

I agree with everyone- please don't overdo it!!! I am going to try your window stuff. The sad thing is, I can't get to the windows outside. Our house is a bi-level, and the windows do not flip in.

I hope you keep feeling well!

    Love and hugs, dear!

  22. I have sold a lot of things on Craigs list but I NEVER put my address or phone number on there. I make them email me a phone number to call them and then when I do I press star67 so they can't see my phone number. I found 2 rentals on there and both were scams.just be careful with having anyone come to your house and make sure your husband is home when they do. Ask more that you want because they never want to pay what you ask. Love the cabinet and cute pictures of the kiddies too :)

    Enjoy your day,
