Keeping it brief….And IT’S AAALLLL DONE!

Four weeks later – aching bones – no more fingers left – but no major injuries during the process…the bedroom is FINISHED.
It seriously was a fun process working together on this room – I will say when my husband decides to do something he does it complete!
The bedroom started out just as painting walls – but it turned into a complete job.
His idea on everything this time which made me feel might good about that one!!!

The bed had to go back to the same spot no matter what but we did switch the dresser and Armoire out to give a tad more room to get in the door – it’s tall and so it looks like it’s in the way but it’s 1-1/2 feet shorter in width.  I love it.
Also left out one of the bedside tables and the bench that sat at the foot of the bed. I miss it for some things but not for the space it took up.
Also left off the peg board around the room.
There will be no decorations on the walls – I like the plain look and the stencil is all that’s needed for decoration anyway.
Doug gave the best description of it the other day – he said he finally figured out what the room looked like….’an old farmhouse bedroom’…I’m good with that!!!

Here’s the original

So no more chatting – here’s the final…now some may think it doesn’t look much different but I think that’s because the wall color is very similar (in the pictures anyway) but if you saw it for real you would see the difference.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Tuesday was the first ‘gathering’ day but we had a big snow that started ‘early’ in the a.m. so I basically called it off because everyone had to drive anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half.
But at 10 a.m. when it was normally to start a lady showed up at my door!!!
YEAHHHH…..one member LOL
But we had a great time…snug and cozy sitting in the den doing our rug hooking and punch needle and had a great lunch to boot.
I’m so glad she didn’t receive my cancellation and attempted the drive – can’t wait till the 17th for the next one – hopefully there won’t be anything to stand in the way.  I believe there oar 8 or 9 of us if everyone shows up!

Thanks for visiting me today
if you are in the ‘bad weather’ area please take caution and stay safe and warm

  4. Love your finished results Karen. Beautiful. When we first moved into our home Mr. P. stenciled our great room around the top of the room. Never would have attempted full walls. Then a year or so later, we had a chimney fire and the smoke ruined the walls. Had to paint and cover up all that neck breaking hard work. You have something to really be proud of. Love it.

  5. Hey Miss Karen, your 'new' bedroom looks like it gives you way more room, more 'airy' feeling to it ~ I like the color choices and the stenciling looks great!

Warm hugs! It just snowed about 10 ~ 12 inches today in eastern Ky!

  6. Your room turned out wonderful! It certainly has that old farmhouse charm! You did a great job on the stenciling. That had to take lots of time! Is that a Carol Endres hooked rug on the floor?

  8. Your bedroom turned out marvelously. I think letting the stencils stand alone was a great idea. They look beautiful. I also adore your curtains! Tuesday morning definitely was a beast, but I am looking forward to the nice weather in the forecast. I am ready for spring - or at least a high above 20 degrees! Jane

  9. LOVE your bedroom redo Karen! I agree, you don't need anything on the walls with all of that beautiful stenciling. I think it all looks just perfect. I'm sure you feel like it was a huge accomplishment. The floor is beautiful too. Thanks for sharing. Now you can relax and just enjoy the fruits of your labor! Hugs, Lori

  14. It looks wonderful! So much lighter and brighter feeling. The stencils are great and I really like them being the wall decoration instead of pictures. Great job!

  15. Oh, I love the stenciling, Karen and Doug! I always have loved stenciling!!!! You did a beautiful job.....just the right touch in your old farmhouse bedroom. I grew up in a very big old farm house with 4 big bedrooms and I think your room would have been perfect in our house!!!! You room looks so big compared to before. I is so nice!!!!

  16. Karen, I love both looks! But your husband hit the nail on the head with the farmhouse comment.

One question - your curtains are just lovely. Are those window shades behind them? I'm looking for ideas for curtains for our room, and I want a similar look. Thanks in advance for your help.

    1. Hi Jean
I bought my stencils from MB HISTORIC STENCILS:
      Here's their link: http://kmprimitives.blogspot.com/
Click on each category and then click on the first picture of stencils and then you can scroll through them and then click on 'next'...do that for each category.
      Hope this helps.
