I have several a photos to share from the trip and I’m not sure as I type this if I’m going to continue with another post of the vacation or keep it to just this final one.
So I left off with my last blog post with us leaving Lancaster with our goal of Maine being the furthest point we would go.
We started out on Saturday the 11th and headed north east and stopped in to see a friend, Ellie Edgeworth, who owns HOME AT LAST.
If you get a chance when you are in that area stop in and say hi to Ellie.
She has a beautiful shop full of wonderful Colonial and Primitive treasures.
71 Mill Rock Road E.
Old Saybrook, CT
We didn’t have a lot of time to visit with her as she was closing early but we did get a chance to see her shop and visit briefly.
Being it was peak vacation time and we were not but a few miles from Mystic, CT and other vacation spots, the traffic was horrendous and we knew we’d never get a hotel in this area so we soldiered on for a few hours until traffic let up and then stopped for the night.
The next day we headed on into Maine.
We hit Wells, Maine and I swear it was a sea of people.
We drove up Route 1 along the ocean and people watched.
There was no getting out along the ocean as there was not a parking place to be found.
During our ride through the towns for the couple days we were there, we found a few antique shops and a wonderful Flower Farm….among a few of the ones we stopped at.
We did see this wonderful piece – can’t remember the name of the place and I didn’t get a receipt either.
When I saw it I thought “Is this for real”…I spotted a butter churn and the price was $65…WHAT?
Well needless to say it ended up in our car.
It did finally find a resting place on the mantle with the other crocks – we liked it better up there than on the hearth.
It will stay there until Christmas at least.
This shop was wonderful – it was really nicely done inside as well….and their prices were good too.
We found this great tin mold there – the store owner asked if we noticed the copper underneath the design – which we didn’t at first.
Very glad we bought it as I’ve never seen one like it.
One thing we were afraid of though was that we would stop at too many antique shops and find things and be ‘antiqued out’ by the tie we got to Brimfield LOL
So after a couple days of driving around we made our last stop in Portland, Maine.
Every day of our vacation was wonderful and hot….too hot for me but our day in Portland was a beast!
101 and humid – I thought I would die.
We did find a spot to sit for a soda at a pier restaurant/bar.
The red you see on me is HEAT…not sunburn!
I felt like I was going to have a heat stroke this day.
We took several rides while in Maine – there’s just so much to see.
I could have taken dozens of pictures but they would only ‘picture-up’ this post too much!
We did see the Bush compound on Walker’s Point – such a beautiful spot they have.
Obviously none of the family was there or we would not have gotten this close.
There were several cars there though.
We did take a beach walk in Ogunquit one morning early – and there were people already out setting up umbrellas and chairs claiming their spots.
I carry a pack of baby wipes in the car and this particular time they really came in handy!
We spotted this wonderful flower farm and bought some dried flowers to hang from the beams in the family room.
Some of the ones we have up there were getting old so it was great to find replacements.
I swear they were giving them away - $6 each or 3 for $12 – got one free! And they were huge bundles.
Wallingford Farm, Kennebunk, Maine
Look at the sign….CUT YOUR OWN LAVENDAR….Oh yes!
Wish I had but guess what – didn’t see the sign then till just now when I posted this picture…DARN!!!
If only we weren’t traveling there would have been lots of flowers in our car this day!![]()
Not sure about this home – could have been the owners being it was on the same property – I loved the style
Okay – here’s the reason we went as far as Maine….LOBSTER
Not for me - I do not care for seafood at all…but my husband loves it.
Our first stop was at the Pilot House in Kennebunk, Maine
His second meal of lobster was for dinner that night at the Clambake in Scarborough.
See those chicken wings and onion rings…those were mine lol
His third meal was at the Clam Shack in Wells.
I ended up with a chicken sandwich![]()
So after 3 days in Maine we headed on back south west.
We stopped in Newburyport, Mass
Great little tourist area by the water – the shopping area is all red brick and the shops are quite varied.
We walked for a bit and had dinner before heading out to a hotel.
We ate at ‘Not Your Average Joe’s’ – actually the worst meal on the trip!
I think I had better stop this post for now - it has gotten quite long and if I haven’t lost you by now I will be amazed! LOL
I also am not sure if I’m going to continue blogging.
I’ve noticed a decline in people that show up – it’s not just here, don’t get me wrong, I’m not whining – but I have seen on many, many blogs I visit where there only a couple comments.
We work hard at keeping our blogs up and trying to keep it ‘fun’…not always easy!
So I will take this next week to decide if I want to keep going with this.
In the mean time – go on over to my selling blog and check out my newest item for sale

I do want to thank all my friends who do show up and that makes me happy and it does make it worth it but I’m kind of running out of steam here and the trying to find something to post about is getting more difficult as well…but we’ll see.
Blessings to all
