I had lots of orders to work on and also ship a few out. Sometimes I'm sitting so long sewing that I think my butt is going to get as wide as my sofa I sit on...lol
Decided to have a 'comfort food dinner' tonight so I made Stuffed Pork Chops w/gravy, Mashed potatoes, Corn and Pineapple Rings w/Cottage Cheese. Boy it went down just wonderfully.
I browned the two huge chops in my black iron skillet, added one large jar of Heinze Classic Chicken Gravy (from the jar), about 1/4 cup of water and put the whole thing in the oven for about 40 minutes and walla....meat and gravy.
Now the picture is making the whole dinner look blah, but NOT!!!!!!!! You should have tasted it - the gravy after mixing with the meat for that long and simmering in the oven tasted as good or better than homemade....try it!
Karen, those chops look wonderful!! I have been wanting to get an Iron Skillet...are they hard to maintain?
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves the Heinze Gravy, especially since I have gotten away from making my own. Hence..extra calories I we don't need....
Karen, it looks and sounds yummy!! I did get a great bowl of potatoe soup for supper tonight. And I always think that about my hind end and my seat, lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteThe labels are from yankeelaneprimitives in my post before the jars I explain about them:)She sells on ebay that's where I got them from.

Karen, That looks so good! I make the same thing only I use a can of cream of chicken soap and a can of water and let it all simmer in a covered frying pan for about 45 minutes. Then make some mashed potatoes. Yum!

ReplyDeleteHi again!
ReplyDeleteThey say the cobblers kids so bare footed - so I guess that is true for hand crafters as well. Your creations are wonderful and would translate to wool well and you sure are right about the cost. It adds up!
Back when I was making samplers left and right, I gave tons of them away so now I have very few of my own. And now that I have more time to stitch, my eyes don't like working on linen anymore! LOL
Stay warm and enjoy your weekend. We have another blizzard coming our way! hugs, Linda
Just happened upon your blog and that looks so yummy....Thursday night we had Oysters and hushpuppies....yours looks sooo much better.
ReplyDeleteCome over for a visit sometime!
Kathy

Hey Karen, those look so good. I must have been on the same comfort food wave length as you, I wrote about pork chops last night too!
ReplyDeleteCold and gloomy here today and I couldn't get into doing much, but sitting in front of this computer even though I have two orders I was hoping to get sent in the morning.
Do you really do all that beautiful work by hand sitting on the sofa? I guess that surprised me for some reason.
Oh thank you so much! I have some pork in my freezer and really did not know what to do with it. We just never eat it ... but now I know exactly how to cook those chops up. I can hardly wait. I'm going to make those tomorrow for dinner.
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Lea
One more quick thing ... what temperature was that oven?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Lea
Yum YUM the chops, potatoes and corn look SO GOOD!!!
ReplyDeleteI bought some chops the other day, I'll have to do the gravy in the skillet with the chops like you did. I always do the gravy separate. I like your way much better.
