Happy Saturday everyone…..it’s just beautiful here today.
This morning we bought groceries and then did some around the house things and then went out to a shop in the country that we have never been to before.
Not sure if any of you are familiar with the Prim/Country artist Dan DiPaolo….he’s a designer for Lang Co., Primitives By Kathy and Blossom Bucket to name a few.
I don’t even know where to start here….we drove out to the farm and the home is absolutely gorgeous!
As we were in the barn shopping and talking to Dan’s partner, Jamey – we saw a magazine open on the counter – Country Living – well there’s their home as big as life on the pages….what an honor! It’s in the August issue so if you have it read all about it…if not, here’s the link to it: http://www.countryliving.com/homes/house-tours/wisconsin-farm-0809
We took a few photos but most of them are in the article so it was easier that way…but I did get a cute picture of their goats – the one the left looks like she’s smiling…soooo cute.
We had a wonderful visit with Jamey but Dan was on a conference call so couldn’t make it out to chat.
I was so surprised last year to find out he lives right here in Burlington.
I did buy an adorable Witches dress and some greeting cards but am waiting for later to get my ‘original’ items from Dan – hopefully before my Home Show so I can sell them…..keeping one for myself though.
Yesterday (Friday) I had to go to JoAnn’s for something and went on over to Hobby Lobby with a 40% coupon to buy some Mache boxes but didn’t need it because they were on sale for 30% off….great deal so look see what I bought! Does that remind you of the glue spree I went on….lol
I have been fortunate to receive a couple of the sets from a dear friend, Karen, from "Just Simply Prim Friends" forum...she has been on the watch for them and was so wonderful and sent me my purchases of two small sets last week....THANK YOU KAREN.
I took more pictures of my dining room after changing a cupboard around and the bench but they were blurry so don’t have any so this has to be it for today.
Have a wonderful Holiday weekend and stay safe.
Karen
Hi Karen, this sounds like a great day!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I have long been a fan your blog and now that I have started one it is easy for me to get on here and tell you so.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on glue! I finally made it to WM this past Friday and they still had a few packs left for .15! What a deal!
I have seen Dan at some shows here in Ohio before and did see that article on his house too. He does nice work. How nice that they live so close to you.
Talk to you later,
Linda
I was just reading that aricle in Country Living at the hospital the other day! Loved their home. Those boxes are going to keep you busy for awhile!
ReplyDeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteI did see their home in CL and it's beautiful. It sounds like you had a wonderful day. Our weather has been fantastic, too. Looking forward to seeing your new pictures.

Hey ! Karen:
ReplyDeleteLoved your blog and you seem to find lots of bargains.. especially the boxes. I'm into hunting for good wooden cheese boxes.. but would love to get more paper mache at Hobby Lobby.. Our closest HL is 50 miles so I don't get there too often.
What do you plan to do with yours??
What a thrill to go through the old house and to actually know the owners.. I know you enjoyed it.
Blessings,
Maurine
Hello, Karen! Sounds like today was a good day! Glad you got to meet the owners from the Country Living article. I read it and it was interesting.
ReplyDeleteThose boxes are terrific. You have got lots of work ahead of you.
Friends,
Susannah
Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit it. Is it right outside Burlington? I had a friend from college who was from Burlington and a couple times I went home with her. Long time ago and since I was only 18 I don't remember much about the area. I would love to visit again and that home is awesome! Hugs, Cindy
Karen,
ReplyDeleteThis was an awesome article. Love their home. It looks like you had a wonderful day! Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day!

Hi Karen....I am familiar with the Dan P's folkart, I used to work in a cottage boutique in Richmond that sold it and his pieces are quite charming.
ReplyDeleteYou surely did purchase alot of boxes!....do you paint them or cover them with fabric or both?
Janet
What a great day you had! Saw the house in the article, and loved it! I am so jealous! And the Paper Mache boxes? Lucky you!!!! Can't wait to see what you do with them!!! Jan
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with the boxes. You are so talented, that whatever you do will be great.

Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful day! I'll have to pull my August issure of CL back out and recheck the article on Dan's home.
I can't wait to see what you do with all the band boxes!!

Hi Karen, what a wonderful experience you must have had at the farm, your lucky to live close by~I read the article in CL, and would love to be able to go there~it is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI will be anxious to see all of your boxes when you get them completed.

What a fun day Karen! Can't wait to see your new pictures! Have a wonderful Labor Day!~Kathy
ReplyDeleteSOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE ONE COUNTRY GAL THAT REALLY DOES KNOW HOW TO HAVE FUN... NOW THE STACK OF BOXES LOOKS LIKE YOU MAY KNOW HOW TO WORK REALLY GOOD TOO... EITHER WAY LIFE IS GOOD..
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, sounds like you had a wonderful time in the country. Can't wait to see pictures of your dining room too! Happy Labor Day, Dawn
ReplyDeleteApparently my Hobby Lobby doesn't have what others have. There are only 3 sizes of boxes and only then 2 or 3 of each size. I may have to talk to the manager! Looks like you hit the motherload.
ReplyDeleteHEy Karen! Yes, I have heard of the two you mentioned and have seen their home awhile back in another magazine. I think it was Coutnry Home? I have been reading country decorating magazines for so long that I can't remember them all! But I do remember Dan's whimsical carvings (especially the Santas) and their awesome primitive home! How nice to get to meet Jamey and talk in length with him.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you got from him and your boxes when you are done!
Have a great week!
Sounds like heaven to me. I love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a beautiful home! I need to pick up a copy of Country Living! I really quit buying it because of all the advertisements but I'd love to see more of their home! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour stash of pantry paper mache boxes made me smile! Good for you! I love my 40% off coupons for Hobby Lobby and Michaels!
Have a great day, Karen!
Tammy
Yeah; I read the article about their home. Nice home. I am aware of his work ; he does some nice things. Sounds like you had a nice day.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful home!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful day, Karen.
I would give my left arm (well, maybe not) for my table to be stacked with stack boxes! I love working on boxes! I stencil mine.
We don't have a hobby lobby :( If I had one close by, my table would be looking like yours! :)
Stacked with stack boxes;)
