Bittersweet and Friends

…But NOT bittersweet friends…

Yesterday was such a wonderfully warm Fall day and to make it even better a friend and her husband )from the forums and blogging) came for a visit and she brought me tons of Bittersweet  - and they came all the way from Sheboygan…which is about two hours from here! Thank You Kathy!
Kathy and Karen

I don’t have words enough to say how much I appreciated this – while they were here we visited a bit, I gave Kathy a little gift and then I took them to Lunch at my favorite place The Cottonpicker.  We all decided on the same thing…The Black Forrest Sandwich - Ham/Turkey/Cheese and grilled on Dark Rye…Oh My Gosh…melted in your mouth.

The gift was one of my Pumpkin pictures and I wrapped it in one of the hanging tab towels I make and then tied a cluster of Sweet Annie to it.

Then back home and I offered them some fresh Apple Pie but we were all way too full.

Just thought I’d tease you a little bit…my goodness it was good!

After they left I emptied the bags in the driveway and started pulling it all apart and seeing just what I have to work with – I’m so anxious now to get it around the house which will be tomorrow sometime because today I’m sewing on orders.

My back/hips/legs are feeling somewhat better after my 2nd shot on Wednesday – I’m soooo hoping the third shot is the charm…that it all goes away (at least for a few months anyway) it’s really wearing me down…but that’s life when you get old!!!

During the week I’ll take pictures of the Bittersweet all out in its glory where it belongs. I’m glad I left it in the screen room because just over night most of the berries popped open and there are yellow shells everywhere…they kind of fly a bit when they open.

Oh and if poor little Lola doesn’t have enough going on with her – now she must have a cold or something because since Thursday she has been sneezing and not just a little. Sometimes she starts and it’s like she can’t stop – so tomorrow she’s going to the vet. Beginning to feel like my ‘business income’ is mainly to pay for her treatments.

I received an e-mail from one of my customers and she sent a couple pictures of the chair backers she ordered on her chairs..looks nice huh?

Thank you for joining me on this gorgeous Fall Sunday.
P.S. how do you all know almost instantly that someone posts…do you get an e-mail saying so…if so how do you set that up?

    LOVED all that bittersweet...lucky you!!!!

I'm so glad you had a great day with your friend!!

About keeping up with blogs...go to the very top of anyone's blog and look for the word dashboard and click on it and it will take you to the list of blogs you follow and what time they posted and they are in order by time. Then just book mark the dashboard page. It is wonderful!!! Once I found out about this I was amazed how easy it makes it keeping up with all of my blogs. Try it you won't be sorry it really changes everything!!!! If you have any questions you know I'm just a email away.

    Fall Blessings,

My mouth is watering from looking at your apple pie. You always make your cooked items look so tasty.. I'm not a "Betty Crocker" cook or a Martha Stewart homemaker but yours always looks inviting..

  7. Karen, that bittersweet is gorgeous - I've never seen any real bittersweet, just the faux stuff. Your apple pie looks delicious. I'm glad you enjoyed your day with friends. Can't wait to see the bittersweet all displayed in your home.

  8. Karen,
Unbelievable but true, I discovered that you are even sweeter in person than on this blog. Your other 611 blog followers should be jealous of me because I got to spend the afternoon with you! I could have talked on into the night.... Thanks again for the framed pumpkin stitchery. The presentation in the tab towel, and the Sweet Annie were perfect additions. Then there was that fabulous lunch! Of course my eyes are still sore from trying to take in all your gorgeous decorating. Mmm what a day!

  12. What a god friend! I hope by the time you put the bittersweet around it isn't too dry. I use mine right away. It really adds a wonderful touch!

Your chair backers look perfect in that customer's home. It must be so rewarding to see your original designs and handwork being lovingly used!!

YUMMO! You pie looks great - I make mine very similar and I have the same pie plate too!

I have hip/knee and back problems too and you are so right - it can wear you down!! I will say a prayer that the third shot does indeed do the trick and you get wonderful relief.

    Hugs!

  14. Sounds like you had a fabulous weekend Karen. So nice to be able to spend time with special friends. That apple pie looks better than delicious if there is such a thing. Wow you did get a ton of bittersweet. I bought 3#'s and that wasn't much at all. Can't wait to see where you place it around in your home.
Still praying for you and your back. The Lord is still in control.

  15. Hi Karen,
I was so sorry to read that you haven't been too well off late, I hope the third shot works its magic for you.

What a lovely way to spend the day and your apple pie looked truly mouth watering, I bet it tasted even better than it looked! I get so envious of all you gals "across the pond", especially this time of year as there seems to be an abundance of fabulous things to dress your homes with, such as the wonderful bittersweet your friend bought you as a gift. We have to make do with just the odd pine cone and pumpkin!

Have a great week Karen and take care,
    Blessings
    Karen

Right now I can smell the pumpkin pie that I have baking...I love the smells of Fall baking!
I have something to tell you that I thought I would share with you...you resemble Chris Kardashian-Jenner. Do you know who that is? Am I crazy? Maybe...I have been told that before :o)

  18. Your apple pie looks so yummy!! My MIL just gave me a bunch of apples and I can't wait to make a pie.
How wonderful to have a friend give you some bittersweet. I've been looking for the real thing around here and I just can find any of it anywhere.
I know how you feel...I have feet, knee, and back trouble too. I've gone through the shots before and it helped me a lot, but I still have good and bad days. Saying a pray for you.
    hugs,
    Cindy

  19. Good morning Karen. Glad you got your bittersweet - and lots of it! Yup, it's hard to leave our Little House, but we always know it is there for the next time. Are the colors beautiful in Wisconsin right now? Going to Columbus tomorrow - are you? Loved all of your pictures and that pie looks fabulous - we brought northern spy apples home with us yesterday. Have a great week, Dawn

Thanks for stopping by my blog too. I have been a slacker on commenting, just read and run these days because my computer time is so limited. I check my blog reader for newest posts, on my dashboard. Your pie is beautiful! Just love fall and the flavors are so yummy!

  23. Hi Karen,
Love your Bittersweet! How nice of Kathy to bring you all of that beautiful Bittersweet! I go with my sister-in-law and pick it fresh but not this year. There is only one place near where we can find it. So I got some fake Bittersweet at the Christmas Tree Store. Not the same, I miss my fresh picked. Take Care, Ruth
