SO MUCH TO OFFER AT OUR SHOW!!!

Time is growing short till the Oct. 5th show.

I have been working non stop making more merchandise.

This week it was hand drawn gift tags and leaf/fruit wreaths among other things.

Our face pumpkins called

'The Rejects'

were so much fun to make - I made over a dozen a few weeks ago
and then last week a few more, plus some plain ones.

The ones that don't sell at the show will be posted here and on my
business FB page so if you want one speak fast

when they are posted because they will go fast.

Wow, time got away from me!

I didn't realize I haven't done a post since April 23!!!

Not so sure much of anything' interesting' has happened since but I'll try and get a post done here or you all will forget I'm here!!!

After we finished the bathroom remodel it felt like we were searching for things to do - we loved being busy, strange right? But we both love projects.

Two weeks ago a friend from NC came here for 4 days and just as soon as he left we were out of the house an hour later on our way to Pennsylvania.
We decided that we are having another IN-HOME SHOW in October and then hopefully one again in November, like we did back in 2006-07-08 and 09.

We shopped at the wholesale places looking for HAND-MADE items to go along with things that we will make and we did find a few things.
Monday is the wholesale cash & carry show and hopefully we will find a few more hand-made's to add to what we have.
We want mostly our items though so shopping is very selective.

We stayed at the Clarion Strasburg Inn in Strasburg, PA and enjoyed it so much there - our room overlooked the parking lot but also just  beyond that was beautiful countryside.

So lovely this time of year. 

The food at the Fireside Tavern was exceptional!!

One reason we went when we did was because we had always wanted to go to a Mud Sale and there was one that very next day after we got there at the firehouse in Kinzer's, PA - just a few miles east of Lancaster.

We really didn't know how one operated and were surprised that so many auctions went on at the same time from tools to antiques to quilts to flowers and soooo much more.

We did get a case (12) of Kraft Marshmallow Fluff at .25 per jar LOL
But that's good - I use a lot at Christmas making fudge.

We did get permission for some pictures so please don't think we don't know proper etiquette with the Amish.

We took most of these photos early on like when it first started - it got quite packed by noon.

Crafts and quilts were in this building 

The flowers were gorgeous and went for so little...made me sad we couldn't get some to bring back home.

These here are the small ones. There were huge pots with several types of flowers in them going for $35!

We met up again with Lisa and Jerry Thrush - friends from Lancaster and Mattie and Lydia the two Amish sisters we met when we were there in Feb.

We went back to the sister's house after eating and had another wonderful visit.
I guess we can now say we have some wonderful Amish friends.

One thing for sure in Lancaster is we never hurt for food...

no matter where we went the portions were huge and delicious!

Our favorite place to eat is the Rt. 30 Diner

but you must go in hungry because the portions

are huge and home made.

This chopped steak was over a pound!!

And I didn't even get 1/4 of it eaten - I wasn't feeling all that well and nothing sounded good but they were very good.

We did get a new supply of gourds while we were out there for our gourd garlands.

We are making them earlier this season because we are having the In-Home show and need to have them made ahead.

Our sweet little great-grandson Zayne's 5th birthday was last Saturday and tomorrow is our grandson Aidan's 10th birthday - a busy birthday month here at the Martinsen's.

BEEN ALMOST A MONTH!!!

Seems I can't get a post going every week or so like I use to - life just seems to get in the way.

Lots happens but no time to keep posting.  I hope I can change that. I really miss all of my blogger friends and the longer one stays away, the less traffic they get so hang in there...I'll try harder because I sure love coming to your blog and reading.

Oh also....most everyone is coming up a NO-REPLY so I can not answer your comments.

Sorry but I do not know how to change that so just know that

I enjoy and love all your wonderful comments.

So on with the post...

A week ago Saturday we had all the boys here for yard clean-up,

tree trimming and gettingthe screen room winterized.

Fun times with them...lots of male bonding for sure!!!

I so did not want to loose these leaves - I love the looks of them but they are messy bringing them into the house on your feet when they are wet like they have been lately.

SORRY FOR THE PICTURE OVERLOAD!!

We had a whole lot of dead limbs in several trees - thank goodness for Brett who once worked for a tree service - he really knows his stuff 

  Aidan even got to help between playing and snacking.

The next day we left for Pennsylvania to a buyers wholesale show - nice short trip but on our way we stopped in Cranberry for the night and visited a dear friend who has had a horrible bout with an illness that has put her in the hospital many times this past year - she has become one of my dearest and closest friends in such a short time.

She didn't know we were stopping to see her and it took her by surprise -

a short but sweet visit.

The next morning we drove to Lancaster - 

we had many places to be in a very short time but we did it.

Just a few of the things we found at wholesale

Lots of painted boards

3 Antiqued tin sconces that will be great for punch needle!

And I bought some dark gold aged stubby candles to put in them.

Several drieds to use on the gourd garlands

....and speaking of gourd garlands....we bought more gourds!!!

See those really grubby ones in the back left...they are the decorative gourds that are dried...should make for a very interesting garland.

And this wonderful baking pan - I'm going to make a snowman

or gingerbread punch needle and mount it in the open space.

I'd love to keep it for myself so we'll see.

Beautiful large aged gold basket - I think I will display some pine greens in it for Christmas

Found some long skinny sweet potatoes at Roots market in PA for the garlands -

they work out so much nicer than the fat ones.

I love the large farmhouse sink for tossing them in cinnamon and cloves

And the end result - a garland.
I made two of these this past week for customers - now making more for a couple others.

I also found the Shelly Beans I've been searching for at Roots as well

I string them with some natural dividers and they make for a nice hanging.

I had enough for 5 bunches to take to the shop I sell at.

We had our usual stop at Wilbur Chocolate for Wilbur Buds - and found them in a new location. It's directly across the street from the old original factory.  Seems to have lost some of its uniqueness by being in such a modern atmosphere but the candy was still the same...smiles!!!

It was such a pretty ride back home - not so much on the way out -

4 days made a huge difference in the color

It was still so early in the morning when we headed back,

the fog was still hanging over the hills
