Bittersweet and Friends

…But NOT bittersweet friends…

Yesterday was such a wonderfully warm Fall day and to make it even better a friend and her husband )from the forums and blogging) came for a visit and she brought me tons of Bittersweet  - and they came all the way from Sheboygan…which is about two hours from here! Thank You Kathy!
 

I don’t have words enough to say how much I appreciated this – while they were here we visited a bit, I gave Kathy a little gift and then I took them to Lunch at my favorite place The Cottonpicker.  We all decided on the same thing…The Black Forrest Sandwich - Ham/Turkey/Cheese and grilled on Dark Rye…Oh My Gosh…melted in your mouth.

The gift was one of my Pumpkin pictures and I wrapped it in one of the hanging tab towels I make and then tied a cluster of Sweet Annie to it.

 

Then back home and I offered them some fresh Apple Pie but we were all way too full.






Just thought I’d tease you a little bit…my goodness it was good!

After they left I emptied the bags in the driveway and started pulling it all apart and seeing just what I have to work with – I’m so anxious now to get it around the house which will be tomorrow sometime because today I’m sewing on orders.

My back/hips/legs are feeling somewhat better after my 2nd shot on Wednesday – I’m soooo hoping the third shot is the charm…that it all goes away (at least for a few months anyway) it’s really wearing me down…but that’s life when you get old!!!

During the week I’ll take pictures of the Bittersweet all out in its glory where it belongs. I’m glad I left it in the screen room because just over night most of the berries popped open and there are yellow shells everywhere…they kind of fly a bit when they open.

Oh and if poor little Lola doesn’t have enough going on with her – now she must have a cold or something because since Thursday she has been sneezing and not just a little. Sometimes she starts and it’s like she can’t stop – so tomorrow she’s going to the vet. Beginning to feel like my ‘business income’ is mainly to pay for her treatments.

I received an e-mail from one of my customers and she sent a couple pictures of the chair backers she ordered on her chairs..looks nice huh?

Fall has arrived – but just a peek!

I debated when I was taking my pictures today whether I should give a sneak peek of what I did over the weekend or put the full picture on.

I decided to tease you all and put some close-ups of them instead and maybe I should have titled my post ‘The Color Orange’…okay that’s what it is going to be, I made up my mind – you get a tease of the close-ups.  (Full pictures in my next post)

But first – I just found out this week that little LOLA my kitty is basically deaf. She has had so many ear infections over the last few years and many polyps and both ear drums are ruptured from it all. She can only hear when we’re right up close to her and she can feel vibration when we walk into a room but we have to step a bit harder than normal if we want her attention. I’ve been putting medicine in each ear twice a day and she’ll be better till it all comes back again – it’s just a repeat every few months.

And as long as I’m on animals – the birds were out in full force today. I have been resting in the screen room most of the day because I had the 2nd shot yesterday in my lower back and am told to rest a few days to let it work…yeah...that’s not working too well, I don’t really know what the word REST means...but I’m trying.

I think they were getting their day out because it was a gorgeous 75 degrees wirh no wind, full sun – just perfect. The squirrels were making holes in our mulch everywhere! Hearing them digging through all the leaves was rather grating on one’s nerves after awhile!

Anyway I got several pictures of birds in the birdbath – never seen that many at one time. Usually if one flys in the others leaves but not this time. Water was just a flying. I took a video too but I don’t know how to get it on here.
There were anywhere from 4 to 7 at one time.

So on to the sneak peek – oh maybe I should have just put the full photos on. Consider this like I said “The Color Orange”

 

So there you have it – can you guess what some of these photos are of – and what room they are in? You’ve all seen my house enough you should know by now!

Last month I finally got the pictures I’ve been wanting for the stairway wall – now I am not happy with the wall color but that’s another topic I can’t go into yet, I’ll get in trouble if I even mention changing it! But we’ll see…

I bought the Declaration of independence, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. Now they just don’t make them all in the same size so it does make it difficult for placement but I think I got it okay – being they are going up the stairway the different sizes worked.

Aren’t they just such handsome men! I think so…

I’m getting my Bittersweet sometime this weekend  from a friend so then I’ll add it to my Fall decorating and take a full photo when it’s finished…that’s also why you aren’t getting the full shots today. The few little pieces I have aren’t worth the money I paid for them.

My package came!

I knew this package was to arrive but didn’t know when but yesterday there it was on my porch – My Rug Hooking supplies arrived! 
They came from a very sweet lady– she knows who she is and I so I say THANK YOU – by her request she will remain un-named.

I thought I was getting wool strips to do a small Pineapple Rug – but to my surprise there was more than I imagined.
Colors of all shades from light to dark – I can make just about anything.

In the box were packs of wool strips, hook, rug hooking book, patterns and 2 kinds of linen…large enough to make an ample hooked rug.

 I am not sure when this new project will start but it’s sitting here staring at me calling my name...I have several orders to sew, so I won’t be able to touch it until I’m through with those but when I do I will show you all what design I am choosing…probably a Pineapple but not sure.

Last Saturday night we were at our daughter in-laws brothers house for a birthday party for their mother, brother and his wife. Her brother lives on a farm and so we took Aidan into the barn to see the cows and one of the cats had kittens – I don’t think Aidan liked them at first but he warmed up. He liked the cows the best because that’s what he wanted to keep going back to see.

 

Then on Sunday there was a birthday party at Darren’s house for MaryAnn – she turned 40 so we got to see him again.

I made reservations for my trip to Lancaster the end of October for the Wholesale Market and another day of shopping with Lori (the blackcrow). I’m looking for new places to shop so if anyone has suggestions besides the ‘usual/obvious’ shops…let me know.

And I made reservations for the SIMPLE GOODS SHOW in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. The show is on Saturday, Nov. 6th.
