Second befroom done!

Seems of late I have nothing but bits and blurbs to share with you.
When I go to post something I don’t settle on just one thing – I scatter LOL.

I do have another bedroom re-do though.
We did the 2nd guest room upstairs.  We liked the paint scheme with bedroom one so we kept it.  Nice to keep things the same or very similar, especially if one is thinking of selling.  Now we are NOT selling but we figured we’d get things back to the way they should be in those upstairs bedrooms in case we had to sell we wouldn’t be scrambling to do it then.

Our son/ dil had our old iron bed that we have had since the mid 70’s.  We paid $2.00 for it at an auction.  It was painted a horrible shiny brass color – really awful looking.  I knew right away it was going to get painted white.  And it did. Doug used several cans of white spray paint on it.  We used it for a few years when we first got it.  Then while the boys were still home here, Darren had it for his bed.  When he moved to his own apt. he took it with him.  From there it went to Dan and Jamie’s for Alexandra’s room.  She left and I asked for it back for our spare room.  It has certainly made the rounds in our family and now it has come full circle!!

All last week Doug and I painted and Thursday the carpet was installed and Friday the mattress’s were delivered.  It’s a full size bed so we didn’t have mattress’s for it (Alex had them but she took them with her when she left Dan’s), so we had to buy new.

Remember when I posted pictures of the room as it was being used for my works area and Doug’s work space?

Anyway – those are the BEFORE  pictures.
I took this picture when the old recliner was put in there from the other bedroom, waiting for someone to take it…it was claimed by Dan/Jamie.

So here’s the AFTER
I’m looking for a Family Heirloom Weavers bedspread but they don’t offer much right now except plain or stripe.
The one I WANT only comes in Queen. Not sure why a Queen only.
I’m seriously thinking of buying it anyway and cutting it to fit and then using what fabric is left for pillows maybe.
Its’ called the ‘Curious Apprentice’.

Same carpet as the other bedroom.

The bedcover that is on there is a twin bedspread – which would be
great in a full or queen but they don’t make it anymore either.
I need something long enough to cover up the blanket that’s hanging down.
DIL Jamie is going to make a bed skirt for it and the other bed.

Just look at these Strawberries!
This is the 2nd container we purchased in the last couple weeks and they have been the best by far even for the summer ones.  So sweet and soooo Red.  It made the best Strawberry Shortcake.

Do you remember the long Penny Rug I’m trying to make for myself?
I first had the pennies laying on a long runner piece of woven cotton –I started stitching the pennies on but it just didn’t set off the pennies. So I took them all off and put them on a piece of Army blanket – I like it much better now.

The older one…

Most of the pennies are stitched and now I’m anxious to get them put on the runner!

Got myself a nice new Dutch Oven.  I’ve seen 5 qt. but never a 6.5 qt.
We got it at Sam’s Club.  Our son has been wanting one so we got him one for his birthday and after seeing it I knew I needed one!
Years ago I had a really expensive one – it was a Le Creuset – I would never buy one for the price they are asking these days.
I got my original one from buying a stove – they were giving that and a set of pans with it!!!

This one is just like it…cast iron with porcelain finish – no brainer there….and it cost $200 less!

This is the Le Creuset for $235.00 – Mine was $49.00

Hope all is well with all my friends
We are in for a cold one this week – but if we hang in there Spring will arrive, it always does!

I put some items on my selling blog

Some items have sold already – go on over and see what I have.

Been a long spell!

I thought I’d never get back on the
internet – or I should say my computer!
I’ve had problems with it for some time and
finally took it in to be fixed over 2 weeks ago.
The tech talked me into having Windows 7 installed
instead of my Windows XP…I took him for his word.
I hate it!!!   I had many problems with my ‘creative’ programs
working with it – couldn’t get on half the time.
Lots of things that frustrated me.  I wanted my
XP back but he assured me it would be okay.
So anyway – to shorten this up – I finally got my
programs on and also Windows Live Writer so
I can make a post – which is long over due.
I haven’t been on the blogs because I had
problems and my I-Pad is frustrating to work
with and I can’t do a post from there.

But I’m here now!!!
And I want to share more updates of the sofa.
I’m thinking it’s going to be done soon, at least I hope so,
but heaven knows where it’s going! lol

Well I’m sure you are all as frustrated with
this weather as I am – it snows almost daily.
Last week we were in Pennsylvania and on
Monday they  got dumped on…what a snow fall.
It was really quite pretty though if you didn’t need to be out
driving in it – but, we were there on a mission so out we went.
Monday…snowed all day while we were at the show,
Tuesday was just plain snow so we went to downtown market
and then out to Roots market and then hit a
few shops…some were closed, mainly because some of
the owners were at the wholesale show up in Oaks and
they stayed overnight there not wanting to drive in the
snow and I must say for being from Wisconsin,
we are used to the white stuff but it really did come down
hard and lots of it so I can see why they didn’t want to chance an accident.
Then Wednesday it was an ice storm…did that stop us???
Nope, we waited till around noon and then headed out.
It was our last full day so we didn’t want to stay inside.

This tree was so full of ice it was laying on top of our car –
we didn’t think to get a picture of it at the time.
Doug moved the car in case the branches broke.

While out shopping we were watching as the ice was melting
and I thought this tree at Olde Mill House Shoppes was just beautiful
with the limbs all glistening and little icicles on all the branches

And this old Willow…not sure why it looks greenish
gray  but I think it’s because the leaves are still on it.

But first – I must tell you that on the way out we stopped at
my friends house for supper before stopping for the night.
Linda is such a sweet person.  She had the table all
set so nice with her beautiful ‘Temp-tations’ dishes and had a gift
for myself and Doug’s cousin Judy who went with us.
I put in my request for Linda’s wonderful Vegetable Beef
soup and she came through!  Along with it we had Pepperoni bread,
fruit, cheese and great homemade Chocolate Chip
cookies and Oatmeal Raisin along with some…….

Lindas dishes
Linda gave us gifts too…Doug got some Chocolate covered
pretzels and I got a very nice ‘Bennington Pottery’ spoon plate
and wooden spoon along with some Chocolate bars.

One place we love to go is to the Centerville Bulk Food store.
Prices per lb. are far less than in the stores.
It’s mainly for Amish but as of the last couple years we English have found it.
I stock up on all my dry goods each visit.

I got these Paddle boards and I’m going to put  either some
Punch Needle designs or hooked designs on them and sell
them at a show I’m doing at Christmas here in town.
They are rather large in size.  7” w. x 14” h.  And one is 9” w.  x 14” h.

And THESE BEAUTIES!!
A new ASL Pewter design this year – Berry spoons and a pickle/olive poker
Love those spoons.

I’m going to be making a bed skirt for the guest
bed so I got the Red check I’ve been looking for

I have a few other things that I bought at wholesale.
I need to get them priced and added to my selling page.

I have to brag about my daughter in-law Jamie right now.
She is very much into throwing clay and making beautiful pottery.
She has given me several pieces and I
always buy a piece or two from her as gifts.
Before we left for PA she brought over all she had left in her supply
and I found some pieces as gifts and some for myself.
I’ve been taken lately with aged Aqua or Teal and she had some
pieces that jumped right into my hands….lol
Aren’t they great!!!  I may have her make a few
more of the plates…I love the weave pattern.

Thanks for staying with me this long – I could have had a shorter
post but it has been almost a month and I had lots to share.
Watch for the items to appear on my selling blog –
they aren’t anything special but there will be a few things.

The Re-do has begun

Been waiting for this for quite awhile now and it has finally begun – I’m so anxious now.
We delivered our sofa a week ago Friday to the person who is reupholstering it for us.
I said in my last post that we were fortunate to have found someone close that does this kind of work.  It’s almost a non-existent art anymore.
Debbie has kept us updated with pictures of the progress.  There’s just one little part of the sofa that she has started putting the new fabric on and I can’t wait for a larger section reveal!

I have been gathering up all of my craft supplies – wool felt included - to have a sale.
I’m not sure how much of it I will put on but there will be quite a bit.

I’m trying to get PayPal to recognize the items on my selling blog but so far it is not cooperating with me.  I hope I can get this to work because it will be so much easier on me if I didn’t have to put a first e-mail gets it.  It always leaves someone with a bad feeling thinking they were the very first for that item.  So wish me luck with PP.
I will have pre-washed pieces and bolt pieces/yardage.
The pre-washed pieces will be sold in bundles. I’m hoping the bolt pieces I can do 1 yard min. increments.

Here’s a little peek at some of it

So be watching my selling blog for the sale:

If you start following my blog over there it will be much easier for you to find the sale.

~ ~ ~ ~  I still have my patterns on sale
– until the end of February  ~ ~ ~ ~

Working on a hooked rug piece that I bought at a flea market this past summer.
The lady had rug hooking items/patterns/fabrics/wools and also some Penny Rug items. I got lucky.
On the hooked piece I took out what she had started so I could use my own colors.
Here’s just a peek at it so far – I’m not good at it so the loops are not smooth. One day I will get the feel thought and hopefully do better.

I have nothing more to share with you this week – wish I did.
It is very quiet and cold here as much of you are also feeling.
Went for a few grocery items this morning and also an estate sale down the street and that was it. Was anxious to get back to a warm house.

Stay warm, stay safe.

It’s just not there -

Well if you follow Melinda from http://merrywindfarm.blogspot.com/ you would know how I feel…It could have been me that posted her words.  She said exactly what I was going to say – that is why you have not heard from me in over a month.
IT’S JUST NOT THERE!!!  I can’t think of anything interesting to post about…nothing new has happened….Christmas was ‘normal’…New Years – nothing special.  Haven’t purchased anything new and no plans to do anything.
So there you have my blog post in a nutshell…lol  BORING!!!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

We did have our Christmas with Miranda a week ago Friday. She was very sick on Christmas so her and MaryAnn didn’t make it .  It took her about 2 weeks to feel good.
She had fun opening along with big brother Aidan helping her.

For lunch we had home-made pizza
I have been making this recipe since our adult boys were tiny.

New Year’s Eve Doug had his once a year Crab Legs.
I think it was overkill on the amount he had but he put a big dent in it.

Our JB sofa left this week to be reupholstered – finally.
We were so fortunate to find someone right here in town who does it.
She said it should be a couple months – it’s going to be a loooong 2 months waiting.
We are torn though if it will go back in the den area where there is a love seat and the desk or put back in the family room and sell the leather sofa.  It’s really a hard call.  Doug loves the leather but he also liked his fabric sofa. And….I love how it opened up the den.  We put one of the chairs from the family room in its place along with a small table and crocks for magazines and a floor lamp.  Makes a nice reading area.  But I do need to put something different on the wall and put this bowl box on a smaller wall.

Now here’s the sofa that is out  to get a new look….see how it takes up the entire wall.

I have done nothing with my everyday house decor – after taking down the Christmas things and cleaning the house I didn’t feel like lugging things back up from the basement so it stays bare.  I don’t know what I want to fill the spaces with.  Friday I went to the basement and organized all the everyday decorative things and could not find one thing to bring back up….and maybe that’s not a bad thing.  But the fireplace mantle has nothing on it so that is necessary.  The rest it doesn’t matter much.  I’m happy looking at ‘nothing’ (as well as cleaning it all).

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

So – today is a day of NOTHING – but my head says I need to do ‘something’.
Not sure where that will take me – possibly rug hooking or reading or maybe a bit of both – I can’t do just one of those for the entire day….I need to break it up.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I don’t know how to go about ‘catching up’ on all my friends blogs.
As you probably know I have not been on since before Christmas so there is a lot to catch up on and I don’t know if I can sit long enough to read all the way back on everyone’s blogs so if I just go to your current post on then keep up from there is it okay with you???

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I forgot to mention this…
I am going to be selling some of my wool felt and other craft supplies.
It will be on my KM Primitives blog at some point.
I have to organize and take pictures yet.
